Brockton High School has had an awful past few years. Educators believe it has to do with phones, when in reality they refuse to teach us students. Staff won't allow students the freedom of expression in schools. Brockton High School is already $18 MILLION dollars in debt, and yet we choose to waste $137,205 on phone prisons. Brockton High has laid off many teachers, and continues to fire and change roles of educators because we are so in debt. Our teachers are crucial during this teacher shortage, our school should focus on hiring more professionals who can actually teach instead of wasting money on unnecessary things. Brockton High School has only been getting worse, despite our peers promises in bettering our education. Phones are needed by many students in order to be picked up from school, during emergency situations, to take pictures of notes, contact students for aid, and to relieve stress in many ways. Listening to music is proven to help students relax and focus, and phones can help students in many more ways than people may think. Students who are constantly on their phones should be punished, instead of students who may actually need them for important purposes. The main reason Brockton High is taking away our phones is because students in the building are recording fights that are happening in the hallways. This may be true, but it is not just our students. Teachers were exposed for recording fights in the hallways, and no action was taken towards them. We kindly ask that Brockton High do its job, and teach.
