Hello neighbors and friends of the planet!

There is/was a zoom neighborhood public planning hearing on Dec. 14th2022 at 9:30am, to discuss adding yet ANOTHER Starbuck's coffee at 8232 De Soto Ave. LA (Winnetka) CA. 

I spoke publicly regarding my concerns and expressed my thoughts.  Unfortunately, it seems ethical considerations have no place in the planning committee. They only deal with rules and money. 

We do not need yet another traffic-causing Starbuck's because there are at least 10 OTHER STARBUCKS within the 4 mile radius of this address.   This portion of De Soto Ave is already rife with traffic accidents, we do not need another dangerous LEFT TURN INTO A HIGH TRAFFIC STARBUCKS. 

We also don't need the thousands of pounds of paper, plastic and garbage that each Starbuck's establishment creates.  If they would switch to RE-USEABLE cup policies only, that would be different, but we do not need more of their unsustainable trash-creating business anymore.  On my neighborhood cleanups, I am constantly picking up to-go cup lids, disposable napkins and plastic straws from the many fast food retailers around... we do not need another wasteful corporation profitting off our neighborhood and leaving their large carbon footprint on the planet.  

We can get our caffeine fix at home.  or at the countless other ALREADY established coffee shops in this area.  

please sign the petition to stop another STARBUCKS from coming to WINNETKA/CANOGA PARK/ WEST VALLEY.
