Say no to Thunder Bay’s "ghetto"

Say no to Thunder Bay’s "ghetto"
The Issue
This is a open letter to Mayor Ken Boshcoff as well as councilor Brian Hamilton and the rest of City council
Mr Boshcoff.....im not sure if you remember me but I did a deputation in front of the police services board about the safety of the citizens in the city of Thunder Bay and your response to me was "the people of Thunder Bay are learning the "bad areas" and to simply avoid them" basically sounds like a "ghetto" and now with the decision to build the temporary village in the downtown core in addition to shelter house Kam River tent encampment alpha court building a rehabilitation housing pace new location the new alcohol treatment program along with other programs ect all being built in a 5 block radius in the downtown core that is exactly what is being created.....a "ghetto" where all the cities "unwanteds" are all converged in 1 part of town making it easier for the people of Thunder Bay to avoid the issues......sound familiar.....sounds like you are getting your ghetto you had envisioned
The only issue is there is also many low income/old age buildings in this area filled with some of the cities most vulnerable elderly and disabled and in the current we don't feel and are NOT safe and the plan is to flood our neighborhood with everyone no one else wants in their backyards without cleaning up the already out of control conditions and no safety nets in place should this little experiment fail
This does not work for me along with many other residents and business owners already living and dealing with issues surrounding homelessness including dealing with individuals with addiction and mental problems on a daily basis and im not about to lay down and just take it.....
This is not over....this is just beginning
