Why do we need wildlife fencing along Silcock Street, Elizabeth Avenue and Snook Street as far as Oasis Court?
Surely a better option would be to fence the western boundary of Fawley Fields and the back of the industrial estate?
This would certainly be more aesthetically pleasing for local residents and businesses. Location of access gates is still being considered - however the wildlife fencing will reduce access points to what is currently public recreational space.
Apparently Moreton Bay Regional Council and "3 local koala rescue groups" have consulted and decided this is the best option.

41 mature habitat trees will be removed from Elizabeth Avenue and replaced with trees along the northern edge of Frawley Fields (beside the drain and industrial building).
See the picture - orange line is wildlife fencing and lime green is compensatory planting.
How will Council access this site with their machinery for maintenance cleaning of the drain?
Water flows down this drain from Clontarf Heights and vegetation growth needs clearing at intervals to prevent flooding.
Do we really want our koalas being channelled into the industrial area and Kroll Gardens Dog Park?
Digital wildlife warning signs are to be placed on Snook Street and Elizabeth Avenue.
Why is this necessary, I ask, when wildlife fencing will be constructed to prevent the "non-existent koalas" from accessing the road from "non-viable mature habitat trees" that will be cut down?
NB: the offset trees or "supported habitat" will be planted along the northern drain in Frawley Fields AND 2 kilometres away at Sunstate Park in Hercules Road!!
There will be 3 levels of fencing:
1. Wildlife fencing from Silcock Street to Oasis Court.
2 Centre median strip fencing from Silcock Street to Oasis Court.
3. Footpath fencing at all pathway entry/exit points to stop pedestrians straying onto the road along Elizabeth-Snook and in King Street.
Is anyone else beginning to feel like they are being fenced in?
