The Issue

We are calling to pause the current Dallas Zoning Reform plan until more thoughtful, community-centered strategies are implemented.

🏡 In areas near Love Field Airport and east of Downtown, we've already seen what happens when zoning changes are rushed—single-family homes are demolished and replaced with structures that have zero setbacks, no green buffers, and no consideration for tree canopy or community character.

Say no to splitting single-family lots.

🌆 A Smarter Path Forward:

✅ Prioritize the redevelopment of abandoned commercial properties and oversized parking lots that are already paved and located near transit. These spaces offer a huge opportunity to add housing without removing existing greenery.

✅ Preserve the existing tree canopy and neighborhood cohesion. New development should add beauty, sustainability, and livability—not take it away with zero setbacks and no space for trees.

✅ Fix what’s broken before breaking what works.

We urge city planners and policymakers to pause zoning changes in East Dallas and adopt a more sustainable, equitable, and thoughtful approach. Let’s protect the character, trees, and quality of life in our single-family neighborhoods—while still moving forward on housing in the right places.

🖊️ Sign this petition to advocate for zoning reform that respects both our communities and our environment, making Dallas a better city for all its residents.
