Say "NO" to landfill/waste-to-energy plant at Sector 123, Noida, UP, India

Like many of you, all we wanted was to raise our children in a safe and healthy environment. Noida Authority is building a landfill (SLF) and / or and / or dum yard and / or solid waste management and / or waste-to-energy and / or waste segregation & processing plant right outside our locality ignoring all required environmental norms. This plant at Sector 123, Noida is close to many schools including play schools, many high density residential sectors with high rise buildings & highly populated villages of Noida.

Our lives have been put on stake by Noida authority by initiating this plant that will process upto 650 metric tons of waste everyday. They don’t seem to care that this plant would emit poisonous gases, toxic fly ash and heavy metals causing air pollution and groundwater contamination. This would lead to health issues like types of cancers, asthma, birth defects, sleeping difficulties and many other health hazards.

The worst part is that Noida Authority itself has given in writing that the said location is not suitable for garbage dumping or setting up any such plant and still have proposed same location to NGT for dumping garbage / setting up waste management plant for reasons best known to themselves.

Noida Authority has chosen to disregard concerns of the people in the city and working in an atrocious manner. They are least bothered about health of people in the vicinity and are maintaining that the plant will be state of art.

It is the same Authority who is unable to provide basic amenities in terms of electricity and water. Many of us have to buy water from tankers for our daily use. Builders in Noida present something and deliver something else. Roads are full of potholes, traffic is completely out of control; parking mafia has taken over all parking lots.

Planning in Noida is world class where roads are choked outside corporate houses as no parking facility has been made mandatory by Authority.

The classic example of planning is Sector 18 which has become a mess in today's date with no control.

Service lanes are pathetic and green belts are nothing but hideouts for criminals with zero green.

Do you think that authority officials are trustworthy? A Big NO!!!

Let us state our concern to Sh. Alok Tandon, CEO, New Okhla Industrial Development Area (Noida), Uttar Pradesh that they cannot endanger thousands of lives in the name of development and we do not want this plant at Sector 123, Noida at any cost.

Please sign our petition on Change.org for a common cause to stop the construction of the said plant at Sector 123 & relocate it to a non-residential area in order to ensure a healthy & hygienic life for lakhs of residents residing near the proposed plant.

Note:  Please make sure that you at least write few words regarding your reason for endorsement as it will solidify our case against the proposed landfill / dump yard / waste-to-energy plant at Sector 123. Reason can be environment related, health, hygiene, its impact, socio impact etc. etc. or any thing that you deem fit.

Yours Sincerely

All residents in the vicinity of Sector 123
