Say No to Parking Charges in Hassocks – Sign the Petition!

As many of you will know, Mid Sussex District Council is considering parking charges for large villages. In Hassocks, this means council-run car parks at Dale Avenue and Orion Parade, making even short visits costly and pushing more cars onto nearby residential streets.

Why does this matter?

🚗 Increased demand for free parking on residential roads will cause congestion.
🏡 Parklands Road residents, who already have very limited on-street parking and rely on Dale Avenue Car Park due to the lack of alternatives, will be hit especially hard. Losing this option will make parking even more difficult.
🛍️ Local businesses may suffer if fewer people choose to shop or visit the village due to parking costs.

Other villages are fighting back—Lindfield’s petition has over 1,500 signatures, and Hurstpierpoint is rallying support too.
