Say No to Nuclear Testing on Our Soil

The Issue

After more than 30 years of peace and scientific consensus, President Trump has ordered the Pentagon to resume nuclear weapons testing—putting American soil, lives, and global stability at risk.

The tests would likely take place at the Nevada Test Site, just 65 miles from Las Vegas, where decades of previous testing left behind a toxic legacy of radiation exposure, illness, and environmental damage. Communities downwind are still living with the consequences.

In his own words, Trump said he wants the U.S. to test “on an equal basis” with Russia and China—even though neither country is currently conducting explosive nuclear tests. His order is not about necessity. It’s about escalation.

Testing nuclear weapons in 2025 does not make America safer. It revives Cold War dangers, violates global norms, and abandons the bipartisan moratorium the U.S. has honored since 1992.

We call on Congress and the Department of Energy to:

  • Block any funding or authorization for nuclear explosive testing
  • Reaffirm the U.S. moratorium on nuclear tests, in line with scientific assessments of stockpile reliability
  • Respect the will of Nevada’s elected leaders, who have already passed a resolution opposing renewed testing
  • Invest in nonproliferation, not provocation, and restore U.S. credibility on the global stage

If we resume nuclear tests, other nations will follow—and the world becomes a far more dangerous place.

Sign this petition to say NO to nuclear testing on U.S. soil—and protect our communities, environment, and future.
