URGENT: June 25th Deadline!!!

It's been a minute since I have reached out and there is so much that I want to talk about but I will focus on the June 25th deadline date.

The Sunset Advisory Commission is reviewing the mission and performance of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) and welcomes public comments on whether the agency is still needed and ideas to improve its operations and services. The Texas Sunset Act requires the Sunset Commission to periodically review TDLR and recommend whether to continue the agency and change state law to improve the agency’s efficiency and effectiveness. TDLR’s overall operations, program administration, and structure are under Sunset review. 

Here are the key recommendations for Cosmetology:

• Consolidated Texas regulation of barbers and cosmetologists, and administer the two programs as one.
• Eliminate instructor and wig-related licenses.

Our licenses are important and so is the education.  It is important that we stay vigilant in fighting against the slow deregulation of our industry.  We must fight loudly as the nation has realized our value.  It's up to us!
