Government of Pakistan is trying to close our Consulate General of Pakistan office in Montreal, Canada. So we need to stand together and say NO to this, because if they close this office we will have to go to Ottawa or Toronto each time and we all know how difficult this will be for us. 

Help us spread this word and get everyone to sign this petition before government makes their final decision. We are writing to our Prime Minister of Pakistan a letter below so please spread this on all your social networks.

To Mr. Prime Minister Imran Khan                                                                

It has come to our attention that you have received the proposal of closing the Consulate general of Pakistan in Montreal, Canada. we appeal to you to reconsider this decision and look at the real facts and the negative impact it will make on our community here from your government.

I am not sure if you are aware of the real facts and the work this office does for our community, despite the services offered online from government of Pakistan there are many services that still require in person visits.

Sir this office has been providing service to our community since 1950s even after the commercial trading office finished from here and were transferred to Toronto city, the consulate still provides the same service to us and now with growing population from Pakistan that are coming to live and study in Montreal will be needing more of their services from this office.

We have more then 50,000 Pakistanis just in Greater Montreal area that require services from this office, plus this office provides service to all Atlantic area not just Quebec state if we talk about only Quebec its 2 times the size of Pakistan land wise and only Montreal city population is 1.8M where we also have many tourists that visit Pakistan and now after Pakistan being the No 1 Destination in the world we have more chances of getting tourists from this city. We must have this office open for them to be close to their city because it will be more difficult to get them to visit other Pakistani consulates or embassy in other cities which are almost 3 to 6 hours away.

Montreal is our second biggest community hub after Toronto city we have more Pakistanis here then Ottawa, where we have our closest embassy after Montreal which is not feasible to us since in order to go there, we must have a car or fly there which is not possible for many community members due to their financial reasons. Its also not possible from other cities from Atlantic side to visit to Ottawa since there are no direct flights there but there are direct flights to Montreal from those cities.

Montreal is the ideal location from every point of view, plus you know the Quebec state is always fighting for self-determination from Canada and wants to be a separate country and from our last elections it was only few votes away from this happening and imagine if this happens and the state of Quebec become its own country then you have to have embassy here and then you will have to look for location again to open office here, when right now you have your own building which is in heart of downtown Montreal, and Sir looking at the numbers of services provided since last 10 years from this office we don’t see much difference, so this shows that we still need this Consulate to be operating in full.

Many countries have multiple missions in Canada, and they all have their offices and consulates in Montreal we have more then 110 of these countries here so why Pakistan wants to close ours? specially when Pakistan did over $100 Million USD in exports just in Quebec in last year 2021 even despite the crisis in the world, and this is the most we did in a single year compared to last 10 years. So, looking at these numbers its more important to keep this office going and generate more import and export chances from this state.

Sir if you really want to return favor to us for being loyal to you and to our country then we need our Consulate General office permanently opened and not a decision pending so please take care of this matter as soon as possible.

Sir now you have given us the chance to vote for you from the oversea portal and if you really want this community to vote for you then we need this problem solved in return first, so we know that you really care for our efforts we made in past for you and are willing to make in future to always support you.

We already submitted few years back hundreds of letters from our community to solve this issue, when your government came in power, and we got a confirmation that this decision is pending for now, so now we are making the request to you directly to take this matter in your hands to solve this.
