Say NO to automatic speed violation tickets, Reject AB-645
The Issue
Governor Gavin Newsom,
We, the concerned citizens of California, are deeply troubled by the prevailing issues in our state, such as break-ins, carjackings, and robberies that have been plaguing our urban areas. It is disheartening to witness the government's seeming incompetence in addressing these critical concerns. Instead of prioritizing public safety, our government appears more interested in imposing additional financial burdens on hardworking taxpayers through ill-conceived laws that do not serve the best interests of the people.
AB-645, introduced by Assembly Members Friedman, Santiago, and Ting and backed by the Democratic Party, is a prime example of such a misguided approach. This legislation proposes the implementation of an expensive speed ticketing system in Cities of Los Angeles, San Jose, Oakland, Glendale, and Long Beach, and the City and County of San Francisco.
We must ask: How does this system truly benefit the citizens of California?
Financial Burden: AB-645 will undoubtedly burden taxpayers even further, siphoning money from their already stretched pockets.
Traffic Congestion: Introducing this system on our already congested roads will only exacerbate the problem by slowing down traffic, inconveniencing commuters.
Lack of Direct Benefit: It is evident that this system offers no direct benefits to the citizens it aims to serve. It is a solution in search of a problem.
Will this stop seeding cars? No, we can't practically install these systems on every mile. There will be markers in maps to identify these installations to tell everyone when to speed down.
Redundancy: We already have functional laws in place to address speeding violations. The introduction of this legislation appears redundant and unnecessary.
We want to make it clear that this legislation is not a necessity, nor is it a demand from the people of California. We vehemently oppose the allocation of our hard-earned money towards a system that lacks merit and does not align with our priorities.
We, the undersigned citizens of California, hereby reject AB-645 and call upon our government representatives to prioritize our safety and well-being over unnecessary financial burdens. It is time for our elected officials to listen to the voices of their constituents and work towards solutions that genuinely benefit our state.
