Say No to Amazon’s $3 Billion Data Center in Mississippi Without Community Protections

The Issue

Amazon wants to build a $3 billion data center campus in Warren County, Mississippi—just months after announcing other massive projects across the state. But while corporate profits surge, Mississippi residents are being left out of the conversation.

We’re not anti-jobs. But these hyperscale data centers come with real costs: massive electricity demands, unknown water usage, environmental concerns, and secretive development deals.

Amazon has promised just 200 permanent jobs in exchange for billions in infrastructure support—and no public vote, no transparent oversight, and no clear plan for environmental protections.

That’s not a fair deal.

We call on the Mississippi Public Service Commission, the Warren County Board of Supervisors, and the Governor’s Office to:

  • Pause the project until a full environmental and community impact review is completed and made public
  • Disclose Amazon’s total water and energy use for this project
  • Require local infrastructure protections so costs aren’t passed on to residents
  • Hold public hearings in Warren County before permitting moves forward
  • Guarantee that any tax breaks or subsidies include enforceable job creation targets and community benefit agreements.

Mississippi is being turned into a "Data Center Corridor"—but we deserve more than corporate press releases. Without transparency, these projects could strain local water systems, raise utility rates, and leave communities stuck with long-term costs if Amazon pulls out later.

There is still time to get this right. Before the concrete is poured, we demand that Amazon and Mississippi officials answer basic questions: Who benefits? Who pays? What’s the real cost?

Sign to demand real protections for Warren County and a pause on this project until the public is heard.
