Save the Vaquita

The issue

A vaquita is a type of porpoise that is critically endangered, in fact, the rarest on the planet! Its scientific name is Phocena Sinus, meaning porpoise from the gulf of California.

It is important we save the vaquita from extinction because it plays a vital role in the eco-system. It's a chain effect. The vaquita is preyed on by many of the shark family. If the vaquita goes then the great white shark will become extinct. If the great white shark population dies out, the fish population will explode and eventually they will all die because there is not enough food. Not just for other animals, but for the people living in the local areas too.

Then the crustaceans population will also explode and many will die out, because of how much food there is left. Then many other species will die of hunger since they also eat crustaceans. This means no crustaceans for us either.

This can leave major impacts on the gulf of California eco-system, typically in the sea of Cortez.

I'm writing this to tell everyone that every creature is worth it. If I told you there are 8 billion people and ten vaquitas, how would you feel? This animal is probably one of the most important animals in the sea of Cortez. The amount of food, the population of fish, crustaceans, plankton, algae, and sharks all depend on this one species. Also, we don't just need to preserve, but we need to protect. we need to get higher that 50 to ensure it isn't gone forever. Plus, like i have said before, forever is forever, there is no coming back.

Please sign, share, adopt or follow any other steps to help save this umbrella species (meaning it helps all other species and others depend on it, like an umbrella).
