Yewbarrow Lodge sheltered housing scheme was constructed in Yewbarrow Park and completed in 1991. It was a very successful  project and residents loved living there. There was a sense of community and each of the 30 flats had a view of Morecambe Bay. The materials used to construct some parts of the building came from the original lodge built in the Victorian era and thus created a link with the past.

This high quality building faced in stone and render with slate roof slopes is visible from many parts of the Bay and is an established landmark in the area, loved by many residents and visitors alike.

South Lakes Housing, who manage the building, have submitted proposals to demolish the building and replace it with affordable homes on the site. This is not a sustainable approach to construction and is wasteful of natural resources. The building could easily be converted to other residential uses and properly maintained. Sign the petition to save this valuable landmark.
