Save Westport Light State Park

Save Westport Light State Park
The Issue
Westport Light State Park is one of the last intact Shorepine forests in Washington State, who is known to be the habitat of a PNW endemic, and endangered, lichen: Kaernefeltia (Cetraria) californica. Without this habitat, this lichen can become extinct.
For the past couple of years, Westport Golf Link has proposed to build a 120 acre golf course on Westport Light State Park, which would destroy this fragile and important ecosystem.
We propose to the city of Westport, WA to consider creating different options to boost the city's economy. Such as: having festivals/annual events, creating historical landmarks in the city or creating tours to promote the history of the city, or creating museums or well known gift stores such as Marsh's Free Museum in Long Beach, WA.
We believe there are other means to create a brighter future for the city of Westport that does not include destroying an important ecosystem.
