Save Westheights Pond

Save Westheights Pond
The Issue
Located behind a Westheights woodlot and accessible from a beaten trail hides one of the neighborhood's hidden gems - a natural pond.
This multi-purpose pond is used by residents and surrounding schools year-round, for skating in the winter, picnics near the pond in the summer, and exploring nature for science classes. It only makes sense to maintain this beautiful pond so everyone can continue enjoying it.
Unfortunately with the lack of maintenance from the city, this pond is reaching, if not already reached the end of its natural life. With the rapid deterioration of the pond, wildlife that relies on this pond as a water source and the fish and turtles that call this pond home are put in immense danger.
I am calling on the councilor of ward 7 and the city of Kitchener to take into consideration an environmental assessment of the pond, as well as a dredge.
The pond of Westheights needs to be brought back to life before it is too late!
