The Issue

Collier County must continue funding for Vanderbilt Beach Library.  It plays a vital and unique role in providing library services and programs for patrons in multiple districts of the county.

  • Summer 2024 reading program participation:  #3 out of 10 libraries
  • Book discussion group draws 30+ participants from multiple districts in the county each month in season for the last 25 years
  • Unparalleled accessibility for mobility challenge patrons
  • Close proximity of the librarians to patrons:  personal greetings and easy access to assistance
  • Close proximity of the library to the "neighborhood" of Naples Park, Pelican Bay, Pavillion, Beachwalk and Vanderbilt  = short trips on local streets, via foot or bicycle to get to the library--avoids traffic congestion
  • A lean operation with only 2.5 full time employees; closing the library is likely to save well less than 10% of the overall library budget

Collier County is currently assembling its 2026 budget and this library is in its cross hairs.  It's essential your voice be heard so that we can keep this unique and vital service!

It's not necessary to donate $$ to sign the petition.
