Save Uddingston Community Centre

Save Uddingston Community Centre
The Issue
Having already suffered the closure of the David Milne Centre, Uddingston residents could lose a valuable, and its last, community hall. If closed, Uddingston Community Centre could be sold off and demolished.
South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture Ltd (SLLC) have announced that they are considering closing Uddingston Community Centre (Hamilton area) in response to budget cuts proposed by South Lanarkshire Council.
We urge our community across Uddingston, residents in South and North Lanarkshire and local businesses, to sign and share this petition BEFORE 15 February 2024 and ask our elected representatives to support us.
Local businesses will lose out on potential customers visiting Uddingston to attend the centre for their chosen activity.
Please also make it clear to SLLC what you think by completing the consultation online survey BEFORE 15 February 2024:

Thank you.

Uddingston Community Centre is situated at Bellshill Road, Uddingston, Glasgow G71 7PA and was opened by Prince George H.R.H Duke of Kent in 1937 as an unemployment centre. It was used during war years as a place to socialise for off duty soldiers and was later used as a child clinic.
Uddingston Community Centre has not been publicised by SLLC on their website for at least a year. They have been asked why not. See under Hamilton area at https://www.slleisureandculture.co.uk/info/35/leisure_centres/983/facility_and_venue_hire
