Save Trent Lock Public Toilets and other toilets locally
The Issue
Oh, dear, what can the matter be?
Residents locked out of Trent Lock lavatory.
Forget spending a penny if visiting Trent Lock this Spring, or Summer.
Erewash Borough Council want to close the public toilets at Trent Lock Car Park - despite the toilets being regularly used by residents visiting the area.
"these toilets are not only incredibly important to many residents living locally, but are essential to support our local tourism and hospitality businesses.
Many residents regularly visit Trent Lock, including parents with young children, the elderly and those with disabilities. The pubs in the area are not always open, especially in the mornings, so visitors would have no where to spend a penny. Parents with young children also need ‘nappy changing’ facilities and the elderly and disabled need adapted facilities.
Its a short sighted plan by Erewash and we urge them to reconsider its plans to close many public toilets throughout the area.
Papers show the Erewash plans to close 8 of its public toilets - in the South of Erewash - Long Eaton, Sawley & surrounding area.
Toilets set to close are
Trent Lock, Long Eaton
Long Eaton Railway Station.
Hall Ground, Long Eaton
Victoria Road, Draycott
Victoria Avenue, Borrowash
Longmoor Lane, Sandiacre
Breaston Park, Longmoor Lane
Parish Rooms, Breastson
Only four out of 14 public toilets in Erewash will remain - at Ilkeston Marketplace, Orchard Street in Long Eaton and in Victoria Park and West Park.
Cllr Alan Chewings is urging residents to sign this petition.
