At the last Council meeting, this petition was presented. It was refused outright because there were no addresses supplied. This is a disgrace. Change.org petitions are accepted all over the world as a platform for change, yet this Council simply rejected it. It did not listen to our valid environmental concerns, and voted to accept the skatepark design, which is far bigger than the representation in the community survey. Its footprint will destroy about 25% of the John Black Dune Park and with it the habitat of so much wildlife.
The Council is now seeking funding for this project, which is totally against its environmental policies. It must not get it. This is one of the last remaining dunes. No funding should be allowed for this location. Find an alternative site for a skate park, one which doesn't destroy nature and the environment and the home to rarely seen wrens.
