PRIORITISE CONSERVATION OVER CONCRETE - PUT A SKATE PARK ELSEWHERE

The issue

PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION URGENTLY - THE COUNCIL IS CURRENTLY SEEKING FUNDING FOR THIS SKATE PARK TO GO AHEAD IN THIS VALUABLE NATURE STRIP

To revoke the Cottesloe Council’s decision to destroy the habitat of the abundant wildlife including wrens in the John Black Dune Park, with the construction of a huge ugly heat-producing concrete skate park.

PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION TO SAVE THE JOHN BLACK DUNE PARK FROM DESTRUCTION - THE COUNCIL HAS APPROVED PLANS TO CONSTRUCT  A HUGE CONCRETE SKATE PARK IN THIS VALUABLE NATURE STRIP WHICH IS HOME TO THE PURPLE BACKED FAIRY WREN AND OTHER WILDLIFE

The Council wants to destroy this dune park with a skate park, when we already have several in the vicinity.  We should be educating our children to help preserve this valuable green space for nature conservation, rather than creating a heat-producing concrete skate park. We have one of the best beaches in the world. We have the sea, the sand, fresh air and several children’s parks.

The John Black Dune Park is one of the last areas of dunes in Cottesloe and home to over 21 bird species (including two species of wrens rarely seen in urban areas), lizards, butterflies, insects and native wattle.

PLEASE CONTACT THE COTTESLOE COUNCIL AND ASK IT TO FIND AN ALTERNATIVE SITE FOR A SKATE PARK - A SITE WHICH DOES NOT DESTROY THE ENVIRONMENT AND THE HABITAT OF OUR WRENS
