Next Tuesday 22 February, the Cottesloe Council will vote to accept the skate park design by Convic. The proposed design takes up more than 20% of the total dune park, one of the last major green corridors to the ocean. It will destroy the habitat of rare birds and other wildlife, and the unique character of the beachside environment, which is totally at odds with the Council's greening strategy. The Council has misled us - the planned skate park, complete with a dark grey asphalt double-loop for youth and adults is not the 'local park for local kids'  the Mayor's election manifesto promoted, and far exceeds the size depicted in the ratepayers survey (see picture - yellow square was the representation in the survey). How can the Council vote to accept something which Cottesloe ratepayers did not choose?
