'Our blue and green world is becoming greyer by the second. By one calculation, we may have already passed the point where concrete outweighs the combined carbon mass of every tree, bush and shrub on the planet. Our built environment is, in these terms, outgrowing the natural one. Unlike the natural world, however, it does not actually grow. Instead, its chief quality is to harden and then degrade, extremely slowly.' (https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2019/feb/25/concrete-the-most-destructive-material-on-earth

It is only people power that can save this last remaining green corridor, and the habitat of so much valuable wildlife from destruction.

Don't let the Council destroy the John Black Dune Park with an ugly concrete skate park. The wildlife will disappear.

Please lobby the Council to find an alternative site which doesn't destroy this valuable green corridor, home to the Purple-backed fairy wren, and the Brown spotted scrub wren.

The unique village atmosphere of Cottesloe is already under threat, with State Government development approvals exceeding the Council's height restrictions. The developers are soon to move in, and Cottesloe will shortly be a mass of cranes and high rise buildings. We have to save this last dune park from destruction. We don't need more heat producing concrete.

The Dune Park should remain a memorial to John Black , Cottesloe's well-loved Mayor 1932 - 1945.
