Save the Winnipesaukee Speed Limit!

Save the Winnipesaukee Speed Limit!
The Issue
House Bill 1424 proposes to remove the 45mph daytime boating speed limit on Lake Winnipesaukee. Please sign this petition to help tell our legislators that you oppose this reckless bill!
Lake Winnipesaukee is a precious resource that is shared and enjoyed by motor boaters, sailors, kayakers, canoers, paddleboarders, tubers, swimmers . . . . and more. It is a wonderful playground for families and for children of all ages! Take, for example, the Lake Winnipesaukee Sailing Association's youth sailing school - - one of the largest sailing schools in the Northeast. Every summer, they put over 300 kids on the water in small boats, like the youngster pictured above. High-speed motorboats, increased boat traffic, and the presence of too many inexperienced boaters create a perfect storm of increased danger for people like the young sailor in this picture. We must do everything we can to keep the Lake safe for all who use it.
The typical family motorboat can't go 45 mph anyway. This bill is aimed primarily at huge, high-speed "muscle boats" that can go 80 mph and plenty more! Fortunately, the existing law has kept a lot of those monsters off the Lake. For the safety of our youngsters and the rest of the boating public, and to preserve whatever tranquility remains on this beautiful resource, we should do nothing to encourage their return.
Please sign now to preserve the 45mph speed limit, and please pass this along to your friends.
PLEASE NOTE: Change.org will ask you to donate. Those donations do not go to this effort and will have little to no impact locally. Please be careful.
