Save the Wales family animals in Millcreek Township. Let the animals stay!

The Issue

The Wales family has been raising chickens and providing eggs for the community for the last 5+ years. It is a great service to the community with no environmental impact. The farm also provides a home for two miniature horses and two pot bellied pigs that are rescues. If not for the generosity of the Wales family, these animals would have nowhere to go.

The Millcreek Township Zoning board has changed ordinances, causing an order to get rid of nearly all of the animals. The township didn't start this, the zoning board is just fulfilling their obligation to enforce ordinances. A single outside party is adamantly against the animals being there, and simply won't let this go. Please help the zoning board see that one person's irrational complaints aren't worth destroying a farm that greatly benefits the rest of the community!

The barn that houses the animals has historically been used for this purpose on and off for decades. The whole property is fenced in to protect the animals and keep them contained. The chickens spend their days in the yard helping to control insects, rodents, snakes, and spread fertilizer.

The Wales family has brought animals to local schools, held charity events at the farm, and donated many eggs to local charities. Mercy Center for Women, Safenet, and Erie City Mission have received many many egg donations. Eggs are also sold to help offset the high cost of bedding and feed for the animals.

There are not many places in Millcreek or the city of Erie to buy farm fresh eggs. This provides a service for Millcreek residents but also brings other people to the township, which helps support other local businesses.

Please sign this petition to help the township zoning board see how many people value this farm. Any help in this matter will be greatly valued and appreciated!
