Save the Two Abandoned Killer Whales in a French Aquarium

The Issue

Two intelligent, social, and highly sentient killer whales remain confined in an aquarium in France — forgotten and abandoned by the world. Once part of a controversial marine display, these orcas now face isolation, neglect, and a lack of proper care, while authorities and institutions remain silent.

Killer whales do not belong in tanks. These majestic animals can travel up to 100 miles a day in the wild, form lifelong family bonds, and communicate through complex vocalizations. In captivity, they suffer physically and psychologically — exhibiting signs of stress, anxiety, and even depression.

These two orcas have endured enough. With international marine sanctuaries and rehabilitation programs now a viable alternative, we demand immediate action:

A full investigation into the welfare of the orcas in question.
Emergency assessment by independent marine mammal experts.
A long-term relocation plan to a whale sanctuary where they can live out their lives in dignity.

We call on the French government, marine authorities, and the global conservation community to step in now — before it’s too late.
