Save the Teachers Program
Save the Teachers Program
The Issue
You all know what's happening already (I hope.)
Since 2023, 20% of the teaching staff have been laid off.
To the Board, that's all just numbers and stats. To the targets? It means a lot more than that. Not only is this a problem for the teachers themselves, but students are also being drastically affected by this.
- 20 clubs are getting scrapped in this year alone, allowing less opportunity for students to try new things.
- Less classes are available per course, causing larger, cramped, class sizes.
- Most of these teachers have nowhere to go, forcing them into unemployment once laid off.
Despite students and teachers pushing hard to undo the decision through valid reasoning and arguments, our voices remain deaf to the Board's ears, as proven in the budget meeting that took place on April 30th.
It is too late to change the Board's mind for this year. The deed has been done, and there's nothing we can do. What we can do, however, is change what happens to the future of our school.
To all who happen to come across this message (including BOE members), I do not wish to cause any form of aggressive protest. I only wish for the Board to take into consideration what the rest of the school has to say, and hear their side of the story.
Any form of participation in this petition would be greatly appreciated, not only by me, but for the entirety of Mainland. The more names we can get on here, the better chance we have at saving a couple of more teachers for next year.
