Last week, the Adams County Planning Commission held a virtual meeting regarding the Sherrelwood Village #2 case. Unfortunately the result was a recommended approval, 4-3. The final hearing for this case will be on March 2nd at 9:30am where the entire case (and your comments!) will be reviewed by the decision makers - the Adams County Board of County Commissioners (more information on that here... http://www.adcogov.org/bocc My sources at the County say that the split decision is a decent outcome and will be considered by the BoCC.
This will be the big meeting where your voice could really make a difference!!! My neighbors and I would love your support in attending and 'ecommenting' on this case, as there have only been a few people in attendance in previous virtual hearings. In the event it all gets approved, Delwest has stated that they want to start on the demolition right away, therefore it's likely that it could come down at any point after the hearing.
We have all worked very hard on this project and I want to thank each and every one of you for your support, your signatures, and your continued attention to this important matter to myself and the Sherrelwood community.
Many of the students who used to attend this unique former daycare now have children of their own, and I'd like to encourage them to drive past it and tell their tales to relive the fond memories before they no longer can. Maybe you and your family could have a winter picnic or take a bundled-up stroll through Sherrelwood Park and take pictures of "the Spaceship House" before the construction fences go up.
If you do take pictures of this property, would you please consider sharing them with the Facebook page "Save the Spaceship House from Demolition"? https://www.facebook.com/groups/299594594550148/
If this case gets approved, this page will become a memorial site where I would love to showcase your photos and your creative perspective, of course giving you full credit.
*** It's not quite over yet! ***
