Save The Skyride at Six Flags Great Adventure from Being Demolished

The Issue

One of the oldest rides at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson New Jersey is on the chopping block as I was told by a representative at Guest Relations on August 20, 2024.  The Skyride was built by Von roll company in Switzerland and used in the World's Fair in New York in 1964 and 1965.  It was then purchased by a new park that was being built in the early 70's named Great Adventure which then it would assemble it and other rides for their grand opening on July 1, 1974.  It is 60 years old and at Great Adventure it has been there for just over 50 years.  They said that they cannot get parts for the ride so it will have to come down.  That is a lie because Busch Gardens in Tampa Florida just purchased parts for their Skyride which is a Von Roll from Switzerland and they just opened it back up a few months ago after two years being closed down.  To cover the costs, they charge non pass holders $5.00 to ride each way.  Why can't Great Adventure do the same.  I would like to get as many signed petitions as possible to save this historical ride that bought everyone in the past a thrilling ride across the park and the only way to get across the park.  I will not be renewing my season pass and I hope others would do the same.  Maybe then Six Flags will then see the loss they will have if they remove the Skyride from their park. All my memories and joy for 50 years will be lost to one of the best cable cars that were ever made.  Call Six Flags Great Adventure and tell them you want them to keep the skyride at the park.
