The Richard A. Castro Admissions Center is located within a historic, plantation-style house, providing a grand welcome to Texas State University's San Marcos Campus. However, this beautiful and historical building's future is now at stake. The university recently disclosed plans to construct a new 5-star luxury hotel on the tract of land currently occupied by the admissions center.

This would result in the demolition of this beautiful historical building and a permanent erasure of San Marcos history. This is simply unacceptable, especially given the surround landscape of parking lots and vacant land.
