We, the undersigned, respectfully request that the dredged material from the Pohoiki boat ramp project not be used to fill the natural hot spring ponds in the woods and out front, where the inside of first bay use to be.

WE ARE IN FULL SUPPORT OF THE DREDGING PROJECT, we are simply requesting to not fill the hot ponds beyond the channel/boat ramp area.

The Pohoiki hot ponds are a beloved resource for our community, offering cultural, environmental, and recreational benefits. These unique ponds emerged after the 2018 lava flow and have since become a vital part of the landscape, valued by locals and visitors alike.

While we recognize the importance of maintaining access to the boat ramp, we urge decision-makers to ensure that the dredging project avoids impacting the hot spring ponds beyond the boat ramp pond.

We will already be loosing the boat ramp pond that so many people love to give way for the boat ramp, we implore you to save the rest!

We believe it is possible to carry out the project in a way that safeguards these cherished features.
