SAVE the PLACER-NEVADA CATTLEWOMEN'S RED BARN

SAVE the PLACER-NEVADA CATTLEWOMEN'S RED BARN
The Issue
The Placer Nevada Cattlewomen (Cowbelles) were established in 1964 as an auxiliary to the Tahoe Cattlemen's Association and an affiliate to the California Cattlewomen (Cowbelles). The Tahoe Cattlemen built a RedBarn at each of the Placer & Nevada County Fairgrounds in 1964 where the Cattlewomen have literature and information on the Beef Industry, support the youth of both counties with various programs supporting thier animal projects and raise money for $5,000 in scholarship funds for youth continuing their education in agriculture each year.
This year, last week, when one of our members went to pick up passes for our members to work the Red Barn during the Placer County Fair, going on now thru Sunday, June 25th... she was told this will be our last year at the fair. They are tearing down our building. Our club nor the Cattlemen's Association or the Junior Livestock Association had been notified. We have been a mainstay of this fair since 1964.
Carrie Fankhouser, General Manager of the Placer County Fair and "The Grounds" (916) 701-8181 ext.1001 said the roof was in too bad of shape and could not be replaced. They had not contacted us about this situation. We have had the roof replaced on our Nevada County Fair barn by donation.
I asked Carrie if they were going to rebuild our barn she said no. They have other plans for this area. I believe they are pushing agriculture out of the fair. When "The Grounds" took over in 2017 we were told the Fair and Agricultural activities would continue for at least 25 years. They have cut the fair hours drastically to Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5:00pm to 11:00pm and Sunday 12:00pm to 6:00pm. The Fair is not open even during the Placer County youth's Junior Livestock Auction on Saturday morning.
I feel the public needs to know that they are pushing us out, using the excuse the building is unsafe and planning demolition without even giving us a chance to rectify the situation. We have a website, facebook, email and known board members that could have been contacted.

Immediate action is necessary.
