Save the Noosa RSPCA Shelter – Protect Local Animal Welfare

The Issue

We, the undersigned residents and supporters of animal welfare, are deeply concerned about the planned closure of the RSPCA shelter in Noosa on May 31.

For over 30 years, this shelter has cared for more than 50,000 animals — providing critical support for lost, surrendered, injured, and abused animals in our community. The closure will not only impact animals, but also the 56 volunteers and 4 permanent staff who have dedicated their time and compassion.

Despite a reported $8.7 million profit by RSPCA Qld in the last financial year, this essential local service is being shut down, leaving Noosa without a viable plan for stray, abandoned, or mistreated animals.

We urge the Noosa Council and RSPCA Qld to:

- Delay the closure to allow a proper transition plan.
- Engage the community in finding sustainable alternatives.
- Maintain a local presence for pound and shelter services in Noosa.
Please stand with us in protecting our region’s most vulnerable animals
