It has recently come out that our school, Coventry High School, is looking to cut or impact many programs. This includes our very own NJROTC Program. The Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps is something that is a place for students that either feel left out or without purpose. The program gives those students and others who are interested in a place for learning as well as guidance. It follows honor, courage, and commitment and teaches all the importance of leadership in the day to day life. While most deciding to be in this program are planning to go into the military it does not just prepare you for that. It will also prepare you for the outside world, unprotected by the bubble placed by a school setting. It gives you challenges to overcome and a place to give yourself the motivation needed to accomplish great things. Students in the program who work hard can earn ribbons and certificates that are a natural boost of self esteem for teens, which for this generational youth is so highly important. 

Without this program or the people who run it, it will be chaos. There will be no strong structure and it may collapse. We need those who are there now to help maintain balance and give all students a chance to shine their brightest. The current Chief of the program is at risk of losing his position due to part time budget costs. He is the one of the most important parts of the program and makes those a part of it feel valued and respected. He is a vital part of the program and without him many students would be hurt and impacted greatly. 

We need you all to sign this petition in order to help save our program! By signing you are able to help give those students a chance at staying with their chosen family. Please sign as soon as you can because our town is going to be having another meeting about the current budget issues soon so by having as many signatures as possible for that meeting than it can help improve the chances for the program.
