The Issue

We are circulating this petition to raise awareness for an environmental situation we are facing in Morrisville, VT. A local developer is planning to demolish a small mountain to put in an industrial park. Our hopes are that we can preserve the mountain and it's surrounding landscape. The removal of the mountain is proposed to take a decade. This would be a major change in our surroundings: dust, noise, water, air pollution. We find this to be an unnecessary trade-off for the gains we will be receiving within the industrial park. Replacing the mountain with a series of warehouses is not the way to preserve the natural beauty of this land.

There is a difference between healthy progress and destruction. While progress is part of the natural order of life, we still need to protect the beauty and sanctuary feel that small towns in Vermont bring us. Great, clean drinking water, good air quality, low smog emissions, etc. While we welcome growth into our rural towns, we need to keep in mind that these new buildings are created and designed with care to upkeep the historical standard of our towns, while imposing the smallest amount of stress on our ecological footprint. It is important to keep our future in mind and build with both purpose and intention. What legacy do we want to leave future generations?

Please join us in signing this petition to Save the Mountain (you don't need to pay to sign).
