Hi, I am Allison, a 4th grader living in California, U.S.

According to multiple news reports, Sri Lanka is selling 100,000 toque macaque monkeys to zoos in China to help pay the country's $7 billion debt. 

Sri Lanka is doing this, because debt has caused a financial crisis across the country. People don't have enough food and farmers say that monkeys are ruining their crops. 

If they are sold, these little critters might become food or be used in medical testing. These helpless animals are going to die because of human selfishness. Animals have rights too!

The monkeys are already being sold and dying now. 

We should act now to stop this harsh treatment of the animal!

Please join me in asking both the Sri Lanka government and zoos in China to stop this monkey trade for animal cruelty.
