The mini convenience store in the Agora of La Trobe University’s Melbourne (Bundoora) campus is at risk of closure. Ahmad, the owner-operator, has been told he has to vacate the premises on the 2nd of December 2022. Ahmad does not want to leave and asked for his lease to be renewed. He was told his little shop no longer serves a purpose now that there is a new IGA on campus – despite the fact that Ahmad's shop has a different range of products and keeps different opening times. 

Ahmad's shop opened in May 2016, long before the IGA arrived on campus. He has been a valued member of this community for many years. Many loyal customers are appalled by this decision. His convenience store is a family business with no corporate power to fight back.

Ahmad survived the lockdowns and the deserted campus just to be told, now that things are back to normal, that his convenience store must go.
