I am a Lincoln-Way AFJROTC cadet and the District 210 Board of Education is phasing out our AFJROTC throughout the next four years due to budget cuts, after the Class of 2017 graduates, there will be no AFJROTC. The Lincoln-Way AFJROTC corps are asking the District 210 to reconsider their decision to phase out our program because this program is a life changing experience that should not be taken away.
The AFJROTC program has been a part of my family for sixteen years when my sister started it as a freshman. Having this program taken away from our family will be devistating, not to mention all of the other families in which the AFJROTC has been a part of and has positively affected their lives.
The District 210 Board of Education can allow our AFJROTC to stay in the Lincoln-Way cirriculum. This would allow Lincoln-Way's future students to learn the morals in which the program teaches which are service before self, integrity, discipline, leadership, and self-confidence. The program will continue to save lives like it has been since 1996. For example, those depressed teenagers, kids with troubled home lives, and the non-accepted teens will be pulled out of the darkness that surrounds them with the caring help of loving instuctors and fellow cadets.
If the Distirct 210 Board of Education does not allow our AFJROTC program to remain in the Lincoln-Way high schools, many troubles will arise. Troubles such as a comunity with not a lot of high schooler involvement, more bullying, and more problemsome citizens will arise.
Please help our cause by signing our petition to save AFJROTC!
