Save the Little Patuxent River

Save the Little Patuxent River
The Issue
The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will destroy habitat for Eagles, River Otters, Beavers, Owls and hundreds of other inhabitants of this ecosystem! This project is on the Upper Little Patuxent River between the Font Hill and Gray Rock neighborhoods approximately 2000 ft south of Frederick Road, and will continue for .75 miles towards Dorsey Hall.
The SHA will be performing a stream “restoration” to obtain MS4 credits. Stream “restorations” are destructive practices that are not supported by science yet are promoted by stormwater bureaucrats, engineers, developers, contractors and the politicians they support. This project was done years ago and failed almost immediately. The picture above was taken in 2022 and shows complete failure with the eroded stream banks. This project is a perfect example of how stream "restorations" actually harm our watersheds and the Bay. The State is actually calling this waste of more than a Million dollars "Adaptive Management." Repeating the same mistake is not "Adaptive Management."
Please sign our Petition to stop this damaging and wasteful project.
