Thank you for signing the petition to save the Lewington Road Eucalypt Trees on Mount Mee. We've reached 315 signatures so far.
In a Facebook post today, Minister for the Environment and Tourism, Andrew Powell MP, said he understands the need for the removal of the trees.
You can read his Facebook post HERE. He also says that "Installing a guardrail would still require embankment excavation, and likely damage and eventually kill the trees there anyway."
Today, a group of concerned residents sent another letter to Andrew Powell and TMR requesting that the scheduled works be paused immediately, and for a period of community engagement and consultation to take place.
Despite numerous requests over the last week, Andrew has not yet agreed to meet with concerned community members.
At the same time, we are requesting environmental management plans from Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), but are yet to receive anything.
If you want to check if the trees are still standing, visit HERE. You'll also find the contact details for TMR and Andrew Powell, if you would like to contact them and express your concerns.
Thank you again for signing the petition.
