Save the Hub at Tudor Street Abergavenny

The Issue

Monmouthshire County Council have made a decision to sell off the building that housed a day service for people with learning and physical difficulties and/or mental health issues before Covid. This is despite the fact that a review into the service is supposedly being carried out until March and the people who used the service and their families have not been told or consulted.

The Council have suggested there may be other options but have not been able to tell us what they are.  As someone who used to work there I put in a proposal to the review for developing the service to continue to provide support for the people who used to go there and the wider community. The building is situated in an ideal spot and has disabled access. It is at the heart of the community and is the perfect place to expand activities and services for people of all ages. There is no other venue within the immediate area offering the same potential.

We are also concerned at the lack of consultation and are asking for a full and open review before any decisions are made on the future use of the site.
