This week we have a great Supporter Spotlight on Adrian Eustaquio, host of my favorite podcast, Inside The Desert Oasis Room. Adrian has been a long time fixture in the tiki community and has one of the most amazing home tiki bars I’ve seen. Get to know Adrian in this weeks Supporter Spotlight below!

Mahalo for supporting this cherished tiki icon!

Sincerely,

Tiki Don

Supporter Spotlight on Inside The Desert Oasis Room host Adrian Eustaquio!

Adrian Eustaquio is a long time Tiki enthusiast, active member in the Tiki community and avid supporter of the current Tiki revival, considered as one of the major influencers of the Tiki scene. He began collecting Tiki, Hawaiian and South Pacific ephemera almost 3 decades ago and has been studying and continues to study the mainland Tiki movement and it's relation to American pop culture and cocktail culture, both currently and historically.

Adrian is also the host and executive producer of "Inside the Desert Oasis Room" a podcast recorded from his home tiki space of the same name. The Inside the Desert Oasis Room podcast eavesdrops on stimulating and entertaining conversations with various artists, entertainers, mixologists, collectors, historians, enthusiasts and more while enjoying a round (or two) of tropical cocktails. On occasion, the podcast makes a "field trip" to record in other equally themed home spaces, bars or live events.

Adrian’s thoughts on the Mai-Kai,”As a tiki enthusiast, cocktail adventurer and fan of exoticism, I view the Mai Kai as the mecca of Polynesian Pop. The Mai-Kai is not only a perfect example of escapism but it holds such a significant place in tiki history, from it's crafted, exotic cocktails to it's classic tropical architecture and fully emmersive fantasy world. The Mai-Kai truly embodies the art of escapism and island hospitality. It is important to save this last remaining example of the grand Polynesian palaces which were once so prevalent in mid-century, mainland America, because once the Mai Kai is gone, it will be almost impossible to replicate it's scale, grandeur and authenticity. There can never be another Mai Kai."

Adrian documents his research via digital media including interviews and more on his podcast and vlogs. His podcast can be found at most media outlets including Apple Music, Google Play, Spotify, iHeartRadio, Player.fm, Stitcher Radio, Tune-In Radio, Overcast, Podcast Addict and more.
