Supporter Spotlight on Otto & Baby Doe
In case you are unfamiliar with these beautiful people Baby Doe and Otto Von Stroheim are the producers of Tiki Oasis (Summer, 2021) and its companion event Arizona Tiki Oasis (April 22nd-25th, 2021). They have been a fixture in the tiki community since the beginning of the tiki revival in the ’90s when Otto started a fanzine called Tiki News and together, they started producing Tiki events. They both have a deep passion for tiki’s rich art and culture and have visited the Mai-Kai several times. They both, without a doubt, would love to see the Mai-Kai’s return to glory and had these comments about their support of the Save The Mai-Kai effort, “The Mai-Kai is a unique and important family business. Tim "Swanky" Glazner wrote a book about the Mai-Kai, Sven Kirsten dedicated a chapter to the Mai-Kai in his groundbreaking tome Tiki Pop, and The Mai-Kai has hosted events such as the Hukilau since 2003.” They continue, “The Mai-Kai is a mecca for fans of Tiki bars and lovers of the history of tropical cocktails.
