Save the historic Elk River Little Theater

Save the historic Elk River Little Theater
The Issue
Save the Historic Elk River Little Theater!
For decades the Little Theater, tucked inside Elk River High School, has been a second home to thousands of aspiring actors and lovers of the performing arts. Children, adult, and full family productions have taken to the stage year after year, providing exceptional opportunities on and off stage for our diverse community, including many children and adults with special needs.
Right now the ISD 728 administration and School Board is in the early phases of discussions and plans to tear down the Little Theater with the justification of accommodating growth, ALC classroom space, and level IV SPED needs. Statistically speaking, the overcrowding issues are declining as a result of the addition of new schools in our district. Also, with only a handful of local students who need such accommodations, the majority of individuals who would utilize this redesigned space are outside our district. Many neighboring communities are much larger and better equipped to handle this need.
It is critical that the Little Theater remains intact and operating as intended, a home for actors. It is vital to our community as the Zabee Theater simply does not have the availability to house and accommodate community and children's theater programming.
This is a CALL TO ACTION! Elk River is great at supporting athletic programs, opportunities, and facilities and now is the time for our community to rally to save the Little Theater and and the history and future of the Elk River arts scene!
Please join us and support the preservation of our historic town staple.
***please note, we are simply a group of theater moms advocating for saving this theater. We are not accepting donations of any kind. Any donations made on this site go to change.org and not directly to this cause.
