The Issue

To all fellow Potterheads and fans of the Wizarding World,

This petition calls on Warner Bros. to continue and complete the Fantastic Beasts film series as originally planned.

As fans, we deserve closure to a story that introduced us to new magic, rich lore, and unforgettable characters. Here, I will state my reasoning as to how the first three movies were successful, why they should be continued, and how we, the fans, should let our voices be heard against big corporations like WB and hold them accountable for their actions.

I first want to start by expressing my view on these films. I personally enjoy the Fantastic Beasts franchise, despite the mixed reviews and controversy, and would consider them a huge success, especially in advancing the Wizarding World that we have come to love. My wife even enjoyed these films more than the original Harry Potter films, as she found them to be more interesting and action-packed. I know others would disagree with this statement, but that is why I am here to change your mind.

Now, why should everyone see these films as nothing less than a success? I think we all forget that these films got their basis from a 2001, 128-page guidebook that was made to accompany the main Harry Potter book series and was not supposed to be a series on its own. It introduced Newt and the animals that made the Wizarding World magical. But that’s all it was ever supposed to be, and it did not gain huge popularity until the first Fantastic Beasts film in 2016. The films were a success because they were created to bring these fantastic beasts to life. I know many would argue that there wasn’t enough focus on the animals, or the plot wasn’t animal-driven. In my eyes, the first film was just that. Magical beasts got loose, and Newt had to round them up while showing all the quirks of each animal. However, if this continued for the whole movie series, the plot would be dull and repetitive. I’m sure many would say it would be like beating a dead horse. So instead, the films adapted, in my opinion, into a plot that every Potterhead wanted, an original story. We saw the purity of Newt with his creatures, the conflict between Dumbledore and Grindelwald, the Lestrange past, Nagini’s fate, and so much more. Who knows what else is in store for us. That is why I see these films as nothing less than a success.

I believe the last two films should be continued so we, as the fans, can get closure to Newt’s journey and the long-awaited final battle where Dumbledore triumphs. These films gave us so much like the American Ministry of Magic, the French Ministry of Magic, the German Ministry of Magic, the origin of Magic in the Kingdom of Bhutan, countless magical creatures, and so many other wizarding locations. Not to mention the new park at Epic Universe that so many people are enjoying (even though these are the same people who disliked the movies). We also owe it to future generations of Potterheads who deserve a completed saga, not a half-told one. By continuing the storyline and adding two more films to this amazing series, we will be able to expand the Wizarding World to new places (like Romania where dragons are so prevalent), see new creatures that have yet to make it on the big screen, and get the closure we truly deserve.

We need to stand against big corporations like Warner Bros (Net Woth $46-47 Billion) and let our voices be heard or else these corporations will continue to shelve movies and series purely because of box office performance, not artistic merit or fan interest. If studios did this 10-20 years ago, we would not have nearly as many iconic and beloved franchises as we do now. Films used to be all about taking a risk and sometimes the payout wouldn’t be right away, but several years down the road. The world is lacking in original ideas, and the Fantastic Beasts series is an original idea that we need to fight for and add a little more magic into our lives. If we do not make our stand now, companies like Warner Bros will continue remakes and reboots until they destroy things that we once loved, like the original Harry Potter series. Now to become a horrid and inaccurate version of the books we all love, even though they are supposed to make it “Book Accurate”. Milking franchises like Harry Potter for every penny they can while not listening to what the fans want. While also tossing aside cast members at the first sight of inconvenience/bad publicity. These are simple requests from a fan base to a multibillion-dollar corporation that should not be taken lightly. As true Potterheads, we should always let our voices be heard and never disregard any chance to see new aspects of the Wizarding World that would never have been brought to the big screen, and this includes the Fantastic Beasts.

We, the fans, are asking Warner Bros. to:

1.       Greenlight the remaining two Fantastic Beasts films (Taking the time to make the films and plot truly incredible)

2.       Give fans the closure and magic we’ve all been promised

Let’s all raise our wands and make a stand together as Potterheads and show that we still believe in this world, the Wizarding World – in its creatures, characters, and stories. Let’s fight not just for the films, but for the soul of the Wizarding World.

Sign this petition and spread the word to fellow fans. The story isn’t over – not if we have anything to say about it.
