First Interstate Bank has chosen to close it's downtown Louisville branch, a vital resource to the downtown community, at the end of July. This will be a huge loss for downtown and will greatly impact all the downtown businesses and nearby residents who have held accounts at this location, many of which were opened when the bank was Great Western Bank, or prior to that Heritage Bank.

Most downtown businesses use this bank multiple times a week. The personal service at this location is exceptional, and we all know the staff my name and they know us and our needs. Shutting down this branch will force businesses and nearby residents to drive across town in order to do basic banking, such as daily or weekly deposits, and getting cash change...yes, most businesses still use and accept cash! This is an unnecessary hardship and a waste of time (25 minutes minimum round trip) and gas. This will also cause some to decide to move their accounts at their own personal cost.
