Save the Basketball court at 24 hour fitness - Anaheim Hills
The Issue
We, the undersigned members and supporters of the Anaheim Hills community, are deeply disappointed by the decision to remove the basketball court from the 24 Hour Fitness located across from Anaheim Hills Festival Center. This court has long been more than just a place to play—it has served as a safe, welcoming, and essential space for building camaraderie, physical health, and community connection.
The basketball court is a rare and valuable asset in our area. What makes this court so special is the mere size of the court, no other court in the area is nearly as large as this one is. The removal of this court will severely impact countless individuals who depend on it not only for exercise, but for their mental well-being, social connections, and sense of belonging. Men and youth from all backgrounds have gathered here for years to engage in friendly, competitive games, creating bonds that extend far beyond the court. With the recent addition of the pickle ball, not only does this court serve local hoopers for over 15+ years, it now serves a very popular and growing community of pickle ball players. Additionally, due to it's unique size this court can provide the potential for basketball league games, a growing number of pickle ball tournaments and immensely continue to grow membership alongside with recent upgrades.
Moreover, it is highly troubling that 24 Hour Fitness has continued to sell memberships without informing new members that the basketball court was scheduled to be removed. This lack of transparency is misleading, unfair, and reflects poorly on the company’s commitment to its customers.
Removing this court:
- Eliminates a safe and healthy outlet for many, especially those who work late shifts and need 24-hour access.
- Undermines a longstanding hub of community and sportsmanship.
- Disrespects loyal customers who joined specifically for access to basketball.
- Sets a troubling precedent for lack of customer consideration.
- Could significantly decrease memberships due to dedicated basketball and pickle ball goers.
We respectfully urge 24 Hour Fitness to reconsider this decision and explore alternative solutions—whether it’s renovating, relocating, or preserving the court. Our community is willing to work collaboratively toward a resolution that honors the needs of both the business and the people it serves.
This is not just about a court. It’s about community, culture, and commitment.
Please do the right thing. Keep the court. Keep the community strong.
Thank you for your consideration!
