Save the Aventura Winn-Dixie!

Save the Aventura Winn-Dixie!
The Issue
We, the undersigned, urgently request that Aldi reconsider its decision to convert the Aventura Winn-Dixie into an Aldi store, which will eliminate many unique services and offerings that our community relies upon.
The Aventura Winn-Dixie is more than just a supermarket—it is a cornerstone of our diverse community, catering to essential needs, especially those of the large observant Jewish population. The store’s wide array of kosher products, specialty counters, and affordable options have made it a beloved institution.
Key features like the kosher hot food counter, bakery, and the iconic Winn-Dixie cake—a nut-free, pareve sheet cake celebrated across schools, synagogues, and family events—are irreplaceable to many families. Winn-Dixie’s ability to provide kosher food at supermarket prices has eased financial burdens for large families while enabling one-stop shopping for all their needs.
The “Winn-Dixie cake” provides a powerful example of the importance of the current Winn-Dixie store. This cake is the birthday cake of choice in many synagogues. Some schools will allow it and no other because it is kosher, parev, and made in a nut-free facility. We love that cake, and it is special features like it that make us love Winn-Dixie. Aldi’s decision to remove these offerings has deeply disappointed and angered the community. It appears to disregard the unique needs of Aventura’s residents.
We believe preserving the Winn-Dixie or retaining its unique offerings would benefit Aldi as well. By keeping the elements that attract and unite the community, customer loyalty and traffic will remain strong. Special features like the Winn-Dixie cake draw in customers who then do all their other shopping at the store. Conversely, removing these features risks alienating your customer base and driving shoppers elsewhere.
We urge Aldi to engage with the Aventura community and reconsider this decision. Together, we can ensure that this vital resource continues to serve our neighborhood’s needs.
The undersigned stand ready to collaborate to preserve what makes this store special. Please show us that you value the community’s trust and loyalty.
Thank you.
