Save the Arts: Prevent the Elimination of Bremerton High School's Jazz Band Program

As a former Bremerton High School (BHS) student, I can attest to the immense value the Jazz Band program brings to its participants and the community. Operating for over 90 years, the award-winning BHS Jazz Band program has been a proud and continuous tradition at BHS, offering students not just a class but an invaluable life experience. Through this program, students gain an authentic, comprehensive musical education and are gifted a platform for creative expression, cultivating a unique sense of community, belonging, and teamwork. For countless students—myself included—participation in the Jazz program fostered discipline and perseverance, virtues that permeate every aspect of our lives.

Regrettably, this longstanding program is facing elimination—a detraction not only from our school's rich history but also from future students' educational opportunities. A cut of this magnitude echoes far beyond our music rooms, silencing a cornerstone of our learning environment that has positively influenced our school community for almost a century.

Together, by lending our voices, we can help preserve this irreplaceable program for generations to come. Therefore, we implore the decision-makers, with the full weight of BHS's vibrant history and hopeful future in mind, to reconsider the discontinuation of the Jazz Band. Please sign this petition to uphold the Bremerton High School tradition, echoing the timeless melody of our valued Jazz Band.
