Recently the media broke the tragic story of the animals of Surabaya Zoo, in Indonesia. Animals that are so poorly cared for an managed that there is a rampant over breeding and not enough food to look after them.
There are claims of staff misconduct as some animals have been rumoured to have been sold on the black market, and meat meant for the Big Cats being sold at the local markets. Some of the Big Cats are so frail from lack of food that they suffer from bone problems and find it difficult to walk.
Recently a Giraffe died after eating garbage. When an autopsy was performed, a garbage ball the size of a beach ball was discovered inside his stomach .
The Zoo has an awful death rate, with many animals passing away from neglect and preventable disease each month.

What can we do?
There are three agencies that are equipped to lobby international government for changes and improvements in Animal and Zoo care, these are:
- We want vet care immediately!
- We want animals out of there! They need to be sent to organisations, rehabilitation centres and other Zoo's with the resources and staff and that can care for them.
- We want the people responsible for the mistreatment of the animals dealt with by law.
This petition will be sent to these organisations to show that we want action NOW! These beautiful creatures need to be treated with respects, kindness and decency. If we insist of keeping them in cages, the least we can do is treat them with dignity!
Have your say today and stand up for humane treatment of animals. With your help, we can make a better life for these animals.
